Fur

Fur is not just a biography of Diane Arbus, but it's an imaginary portrait, or if you want to call The name that is most suitable, a tribute to the photographer of freaks, partly invented a story about a woman who has a way of life particular to take photographs deformed characters, borderline, transvestites, nudists and depict them in pictures, that made headlines in those days, Diane (who says Diana Daian) began his career as a fashion photographer husband's assistant, but soon when a reporter asks her what she does and the profession which has, she says her husband embarrassed, almost with tears in his eyes, unable to hide the frustration of her role as wife and helper.
Steven Shainberg, already seen in the interesting Secretary, returns with a film semibiografica, and chooses as the talented actors Nicole Kidman, (here in a very natural role quite complicated) and found Robert Downey Jr in the role of Lionel, the next masked, who suffers from hypertrichosis, which attracts Diane.
The most interesting thing about the film is without a doubt the relationship between Diane and Lionel, there is a subtle sexual tension between the two, but it is palpable, and is highlighted by the skill of the Steven Shainberg's film, which never loses sight of the division between the so-called normal world, and attractiveness to the world differently, which makes the film fascinating and intriguing, the initial curiosity is transformed into a deeper relationship, more so than when you can imagine, Nicole Kidman dimostra sensibilità e naturalezza, anche quando si rischia di andare verso il feticismo e la gigioneria, Downey Jr, si dimostra a suo agio nel ruolo di Lionel, in sostanza una pellicola interessante e matura, ma anche capace di far riflettere sulle mille sfaccettature dell'amore e della tolleranza.
